| Since 1991, Delaware County Step Ahead has led local
efforts that have helped children and families realize the opportunities to reach
their full potential.
Step Ahead Council is established in each Indiana County to oversee the
planning, development, implementation, design and evaluation of a
comprehensive system of service delivery for children and families.

Funding
Step Ahead Councils have been designated as a channel for
some Federal and State funding sources. Following are some of the funding
streams to come through Step Ahead:
 | Child Care Development Fund - providing over $3 million in funds for
 | child care assistance |
 | to assist child care provides with training needs, start up
costs and other support mechanisms |
 | community awaeness |
 | public private partnerships |

 | Healthy Families initiatives
 | Step Ahead designated as planning mechanism by State |
|
 | Family Preservation and Family Support federal funds |
 | State discretionary funding for implementing Action Plans |

Membership
| Membership is open for anyone interested in services to
children and families. The Council, comprised of different social service
agencies, welcomes parents as members.
Feedback from parents on needed services, services that work well for
them, and barriers in seeking services is of great value and importance to
the Step Ahead Council.
